<p><strong><em>Measure’s Qualification Overshadowed by Recent PPIC Poll Showing Overwhelming Opposition by Likely Voters with 57% saying NO to the Local Taxpayer Deception Act</em></strong></p><p><strong>SACRAMENTO, CA – </strong>Communities across California are at risk of losing billions of dollars for vital services like emergency response, parks, and even child care as real estate corporations qualify their <em>Local Taxpayer Deception Act</em>&nbsp;for the November ballot.&nbsp;</p><p>If passed, the Local Taxpayer Deception Act would create loopholes allowing the wealthy to avoid paying their fair share; and it would retroactively overturn voter-approved ballot measures already in place – forcing deep cuts to emergency response, affordable housing, homelessness services, and public safety.</p><p>"The Local Taxpayer Deception Act is a direct assault on the ability of local governments to fund the fire protection, emergency response, and public safety services that Californians depend on," said <strong>Brian K. Rice, President, California Professional Firefighters</strong>. "This reckless measure would strip billions from the communities we serve — and California's firefighters will work tirelessly between now and November to make sure voters know exactly who is behind it and what it would cost them."</p><p>"This measure is an affront to everything Californians have fought for and everything we stand for," said <strong>Arnulfo De La Cruz, President of SEIU California and SEIU Local 2015</strong>.
